"Landscapes of Memory"
"Reflections on the nature of our memory can be compared to contemplating the boundless horizon. What is far away, we see blurred and hazy, and focusing closer, everything becomes clear, saturated. However, everything is our current reflection of the present moment, assembled from various elements, some of which exist only through imagination.
In this project, the study of memory takes place through the prism of childhood experience, belonging to a community, country, family, and the influence of the biological properties of our nervous system.
Ukrainian artists Maria Proshkovska and Olga Kuzyura reflect on how our memory shapes our worldview and affects our decisions and reactions to significant events such as war, immigration, loss. Over the years, memories go beyond personal experience and become collective in nature. The project also includes an analysis of the deep impact of collective memory and how traumatic experiences shape not only us, but also future generations.
The exhibition is designed as a combination of visual works of art and textual descriptions of four independent projects united by one idea called "Landscapes of Memory".
To present the installation "My Game" in the meta version, it was reproduced in virtual reality in the form in which it was presented at the second Biennale of Young Art in Kharkiv in 2019.
